So now, nearly 24 hours since The Great ‘FauxHo” Sex Blogger Scandal initially broke, things hae broken wide open.
For those of you that have been missing things, here’s a brief summation and itenerary of all the mess.
On Thursday, the blog formerly known as The Real Princess Diaries, hosted by who used to be female professional escort/seasoned sexpert Alexa diCarlo, was announced by the sex blogger website Between The Sheets to be ranked as the #1 Sex Blog of 2010. This was an remarkable improvement, because the same blog had finished as runner up the previous year.
Problem is, it left some really horrible tastes in the mouths of some bloggers, because of a big brohaha which ensued last December when some very reputable and respected sex workers blogged up some acusations that not only was Alexa diCarlo a thief who stole content from other sex workers and models…but wasn’t even a sex worker to begin with. Or, for that matter, even a woman named Alexa diCarlo. At that time, Alexa disappeared for about six or seven months or so, only to reemerge none the worse for wear around June of this year under the same alias.
On Friday, the accusers had, needless to say, their revenge; a website called Expose A Bro came out with what could only be called some thermonuclear assertions asserting not only that “Alexa di Carlo” was in fact not a sex worker or even a woman….but that the man (Thomas “Pat” Bohannon) who used that alias was actually a gross sexual predator who invented “Alexa” as a mere ruse to get into the panties of various sex worker girls. And…in an earlier alias as “Caitlain”/”Cathy”, he had disguised himself as a teen sex counsekir in order to get hookups with underaged adolescents.
All in all, one very slimy snake in the grass.
And he (Bohannon/”Alexa”)) had a lot of people fooled. This ‘Dog included.
Until about 9 PM yesterday night, I would have counded as one of “Alexa’s” biggest defenders. I had cropped up a very freindly cyber relationship with “her” via Twitter; had been a regular reader of RPD, and had even entertained her on a debate or two about everything from legalizing prostitution to progressive politics and sexuality. Hell,I even bent myself backwards to believe that all the hoopla over her was due either to just plain jealousy or simply the fact that she was just too “slutty” for some sex workers to be a part of the “clique”.
There were legit bloggers whom I respect and love and admire (such as Debauched Domestic Diva and Urban Gyspy), and many genuine sex worker folk (like Furry Girl and Jenny Dimillo and Mistress Matisse, among countless others) who were attempting to warn me about and alert me to the shenanigans of “Alexa”…but, I guess like most men, my “little head” got the best of me and I wasn’t willing to dig deeper into the signs that were flashing like little red lights in my brain.
Well….that, and the pilfered photos that “she” used to always post every evening that she claimed to be her own, the “my way or ther highway” response to people who disagreed with her, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
The Expose A Bro site summates this sitch clearly:
Every few months, there’s been a new “Alexa” scandal in the blogosphere that everyone wastes a lot of time and energy fighting and gossiping about. Unless exposed, Bohannan would continue to sow divisions among a community and cause many to waste time dealing with him. We wanted this to finally be the end of this embarrassing and dangerous skidmark across sex-positive culture.
Bohannan wasn’t just harmlessly getting his kicks maintaining an anonymous blog where he could live out fantasies of being a desirable woman. He knowingly spread lies about sex work, advocated unsafe sexual practices, had sexually-inappropriate online interactions with underage youth, all the while passing himself off as an academic and trusted adult who is trained in human sexuality. (Refuted here.) He used bold-faced lies about his qualifications to try and discredit real sexuality activists, and laughed at their setbacks. He stole images from real models and passed them off as him– implicating these innocent bystanders as suspects in his activities. He bullied one activist by harassing her via email, and gleefully celebrated the demise of a valued sex workers rights publication, $pread Magazine. He threatened to expose another sex blogger. He purposefully mislead and misinformed his large online audience about important sexuality issues. He tricked escorts into talking to him and having sex with him by using “Alexa” to vouch for him as being a safe and respectful client. (More escorts are talking privately about feeling violated by having had sex with this con artist.) He ran a “sex education” message board where minors trusted him enough to share nude photographs of themselves.
Exposing him wasn’t about violating his right to privacy, it was about cleansing a divisive fraud from our midst. He was an irritating scourge in the least, and predatory/dangerous at worst, and some of us felt an ethical obligation to set the record straight. It’s about self-defense.
And a dangerous skidmark it is indeed…not only due to the psychological damage done to the women and possibly even young girls to whom Bohannon targeted his sick and cruel hoaxes of “Alexa” and “Caitlain”, and the crisis of trust of legitimate progressive sex educators that may be potentially fractured, or even of the resulting devastation that will fall on all those who legitimately seek to promote a humane, sex-positive policy and society in the face of rampant sexual fascism.
The greatest damage, though will be felt by those women who do indeed take all the risks in this society in attempting to expand their boundaries, and especially in those who seek their support and knowledge in doing so. Grifters and pretenders like Pat Bohannon who simply invent stereotypical and overglamorized stereotypes and strawsluts merely to assuage his own fantasies are bad enough…but to actively fake credentials as a sex educator merely to get cheap lays and target vulnerable girls/children?? Absolutely pathetic.
Actually…not quite as pathetic as today’s attempt by Bohannon to defend himself…which he posted and then deleted quickly. Fortunately, Always Aroused Girl kept a cached copy of his “rebuttal”,and it’s a doozy. The full fisking is due for this one, me thinks. (My responses are italicized.)

Hello. My name is Pat Bohannan. I find myself in the position of having to create a blog page in order to defend myself from some accusations leveled at me by a group of people whom I do not know, and who have the gall to hide behind the veil of anonymity to make some false accusations that have literally destroyed my life in just a few days. I was unable to get to this until last night, and I spent several hours reading through all of the bullshit that’s been said about me and being involved in this Alexa flap. It just defies description what some of you have had to say on such circumstantial evidence.
Which, of course, is qualatitively different from inventing from whole cloth a persona of a “sexpert”/high-class escort in order to solicit free pussy, right?? Or…inventing another personna of a sex educator and lecturer so that you could hook up with young adolescent girls.
Some assholes put up a blog at http://exposeabro-alexa.blogspot.com/ that makes claims that I am a woman people know as Alexa DiCarlo, an escort (or I guess its supposed escort) who has maintained a blog under the title of Real Princess Diaries. My photo is all splashed up there with an image of some girl I suppose is Alexa. They provide “evidence” that I am or have been pretending to be this woman, and provide a litany of information about me and my personal life and how it shows that I am this woman. I think the best way to start out here is address each piece of that one by one.
Uhhhh…get the facts right before you strike, Pat. They aren’t “supposing” that “some girl” that appears next to you is really “Alexa”, but that you deliberately STOLE images of another girl (actually the non-nude model @BlueeyedCass85) which you then attempted to pass as “Alexa”. And why go at such lengths to deny your own creation that you must have spent considerable downtime to invent??
“it was found that Thomas accidentally registered one of the domain names associated with “her” sites in his own name with his address in Tennessee, where he used to live.” That was not really an “accident.” For several years when I lived in Tennessee I owned my own I.T. consulting business. As a part of that I ran a hosting service as a reseller (rse-hosting.com). Part of the service I provided was domain registration for my customers. Alexa was a customer, and I registered several domains for her. I don’t recall any one specifically that I registered under my name, but they all had my name listed as the technical and administrative point of contact. That my name is associated with them to one degree or another should come as no surprise to anyone who knows anything about domain registration. When I relocated to Delaware a couple of years ago, I offloaded many of my customers over time, but a few have remained in place, including Alexa (until I suspended her accounts yesterday).
OK…I can grok that, since when I originally registered my first domain (ajkenn-rgclub[dot]com), it was registered under my old blog host (Bluehost), and my current domain does have as the default setting the domain regeistrant’s name and addy. But…how in the HELL does that explain the fact that “Alexa” conveniently forgot to change over the addy to her new locations when she created her own domains?? Also, as one of the commentators to the Charlie Glickman post noted, one of the emails sent soliciting the sex workers by “Matt” (the “friend” that “Alexa” was referring tor potential action) had the same IP addy as the WP blog registered by “Alexa”. Coinkydynk?? Really, Pat??
The books from Amazon. Yes, I purchased those, once I found out what Alexa did for a living. She’d recommended them for me to read so that I’d understand how she wanted her stuff to work (I never even read any of them either). I performed a lot of technical work for her on her sites. I freely admit to that. That’s was included in the fees she paid me to host her sites as well.
So, let me get this straight: you purchase books from Amazon based solely on the personal affairs of a client which you claim to have not met…yet you didn’t even read them?!?!?!?
“The IPs came from the Delaware/Philadelphia/New Jersey area.” One of the other services I provided to my customers is a secure virtual private network connection that provided hardened anti-virus and other security/firewall services, online disk space for file storage, and a variety of other services. That is hosted from Delaware, so the fact she’d have a Delaware IP address is not a shocker. As someone who’s been involved in I.T. for quite a long time I’d have to be a complete fucking idiot to be pretending to be someone else and posting all over the Internet using my own IP address. I know very well how IP addresses work and how they can be used to track someone down. Why would someone do that for this long knowing their identity was in question and knowing that posting on blogs and other web sites is going to leave an IP address behind? That defies explanation.
Ahhhh…maybe for us civilian non-experts….but you can’t convince me that an IT pro such as you who runs a government website can’t find loopholes and tricks to dodge and mask your identity. And…just because the webservers came from Deleware (and from your own company) doesn’t mean diddley squat…especially when most ISP’s use a local channel. My web hosting company (HostGator.com) is out of Austin/Houston, but because I use Charter Communications for my Internet cable feed, my IP addy is listed by them, not by HostGator. If “Alexa” was posting from California or Florida, then why don’t the IP addis reflect the location she uses, like most others do??
I did have a job at DEMA, too, yes. Until last week. I was asked to resign after an “anonymous” complaint to my department about me doing personal Internet stuff while at work. At the time they’d mentioned my keeping my personal e-mail page up all day (as if I was the only one who does this), a couple of obviously non-business related web sites I use to keep track of what’s going on the community, and there was a mention of something involving Alexa. I just assumed it has something to do with my going in and working on something she asked me to do on an emergency basis one day (which was obviously pretty stupid, but my hosting service shouldn’t have raised any red flags, and involved an emergency repair that couldn’t wait until I got home). Regardless, I was asked to leave for violating the state’s acceptable use policy, which I thought was a bit over reactive but I had technically violated the rules so there wasn’t much I could do. Again I’d have to be a complete moron to use my state computer to go in and do something involving something like this. I spent my days in meetings and writing plans, and can promise you I didn’t have time to be online all day on Twitter, on a blog, or any other place. With all of this stuff on the Internet associated with my name now, any future employer is likely to think twice before hiring me now as well.
Interesting. And that is EAB’s fault…how?? Because your using company and federal property to build and maintain what could be considered pornography just might be considered illegal and unethical (not to mention a violation of protocol and policy?? Because you using taxpayer time and dime to satisfy your sexual fantasies just might be considered grounds for sanction, even dismissal?? Remember, that site only went live on Friday evening…long after you say you were terminated.
Oh…and how in the HELL (again) was “Alexa” able to contact me via Twitter DM the morning after the EAB site went live and warn me that “they would target” you if you didn’t tell her in advance that you had been terminated?? (See below.)
I can’t speak to what Alexa did with Caitlin’s Corner, or Scarletteen or any of the other sites mentioned throughout the “evidence”. I sure didn’t bother to keep track of what any of my customers were doing unless an alarm was raised for bandwidth or technical problems. I defy ANYONE to find any connection to me in any of those sites or through communication with anyone mentioned in any of this though.
Really??? So, the potential of getting called up on child porn or even trafficking charges for allowing someone to solicit minors for sex under the guise of “sex education” didn’t raise any red flags on your part?? Of course, it is the responsibility of the site owners to be held accountable for their content, but how could you not communicate with “Alexa” or “Caitlain” and NOT be aware of all the controversy swirling around “her”??
I have never physically met Alexa. I don’t know what she looks like, I don’t know anything about her school or work history, I don’t know anything about her businesses. If she is faking all of it, I don’t know why or to what end. I’m not sure why anyone would think a middle aged man who’s had a successful career of over 20 years in my line of work would go to such great lengths to do all of this. That also defies reason.
Oh, nice try there, Pat…you almost got me there. So, you are saying that it is “Alexa” the escort who is faking you and everyone else out, and you are just her unwilling victim?? Please, mister, please….song B-17 has just flipped the jukebox. And, if President Bill Clinton was willing to risk his presidency responding to the snap of Monica Lewissky’s thong, then a middle-level geek is more than capable of inventing a nympho-escort to get him some easy and cheap pussy.
I have spoken with Alexa at length on the phone in the past and she is a female, or sounds like one at least. She did offer to refer me to other escorts when I expressed an interest in seeing one just to see what it was like. I created a little blog where I put up a torso photo and described the kind of sex I enjoyed with women based on her suggestion. I did not know she was bypassing any protocols or rules or anything by doing that for me. As a point of fact, I have only met with one person she referred me to. So I’m not sure where all of these women who are claiming I was with them on a referral from her are coming from. Anyone who makes such a claim should be forced to produce evidence that I was physically there. Yes, there have been intents to do so and some communications back and forth between myself and several women, but only once have I met with one. That woman appears to be posting as “M” in a couple of places and is actually providing details of what we did and making up conversations that we supposedly had. It’s almost as if everyone is trying to outdo everyone else. I do appreciate the fact that she at least acknowledged I treated her well.
B-b-b-b-but…didn’t you just say about two or three paragraphs back that you have never met “Alexa” at all personally?? Again, get your lies straight, Pat. And as for the person (“Matt”) whom you say you met and “Alexa” refered you to…well, how does that jibe with what blogger ShazamSF said this morning over at her own Random Rimjobs blog this morning? Oh, wait…you probably faked up “Matt”, too; in fact, you probably WERE “Matt”!!!,
So a big fuck you to all of you assholes who linked all of this shit together to make it appear as if I am her. She may be fake, I don’t know, nor do I even care to be honest. She’s not the one who’s done this damage to me – you people are. But I do know without a fucking doubt I am not her, nor have I ever pretended to be her. I’m not sure how one goes about proving they’re not someone else (I could ask any of you to prove you’re not Christ. You couldn’t do that either). I’ve tried calling, texting and e-mailing her, but she’s apparently disconnected her phone and terminated her e-mail account. Short of her coming out and proving who she is, I don’t see a clear way for me to prove I am not her. I’m open to suggestions about that. Based on what I’ve read, I figure anything I put out there as proof would be discounted anyway so I’m not even sure it’s worth the effort.
Again…nice fake rage there, Matt…but the point is not that you are her. The point is that you INVENTED her as you very personal “Fuck Me Free” card to get into women’s panties, just as you allegedly invented “Caitlain”/”Cathy” The Teen Sex Educator to score teen hookups for your twissted fantasies. And besides that..if you are totally innocent, then why not just show the evidence and respond a bit more vigorously to the charges than this?? Or…better yet, why not just use your capable powers of rage at “Alexa” to out her yourself??
I have an appointment with an attorney Tuesday morning. We’re going to see what my legal options are against the chicken shits who built the blog above. If I can find out who you are, I promise you I will sue you for so much your fucking great grandchildren will be paying for it. You’ve cost me a job and a great deal of public embarrassment, and I don’t intend to sit back and let it happen without a fight. That goes for the Charlie Glickmans and the dozen or so other people who’ve posted my name on their personal blogs as a part of this as well. I find it ludicrous that so many people are whining about some supposed damage Alexa did when a handful of people are outright destroying another person’s life based on some circumstantial evidence (most of them hiding behind names that aren’t theirs it seems). But then hypocrisy seems to be the order of the day for a lot of people nowadays.
OK…first you say that it’s not worth the effort to defend yourself; but now you are talking about throwing around defamation suits against everyone??? Get real, son…the evidence has been there for almost a year. And if you can sue all those bloggers for that, can the girls “Caitlain” touched, the women “Matt” and “Alexa” deceived, and the models whom “Alexa” stole their pics from sue YOU for enabling theft AND libel??
Thanks for listening. I’ll also say that I don’t care if you believe me or not, that’s not even relevant at this stage of the game. Even if everyone who read this did, the damage is already done. But I am going to pursue legal action against anyone I can connect with this even if I have to take out a second mortgage on my house to do it.
You may feel free to notice how Bohannan attempts to disassociate himself from ever even meeting “Alexa di Carlo”…never mind that his own name is on the ownership of her domain name alexadicarlo[dot]com as well as the domains for Caitlain’s Corner, RPD, and most of the other “Alexa” domain names. Or, that earlier this morning, he attempted to contact one of the sex worker clients whom he had attempted to hook up with (namely, The She’Donist), claiming that he had spoken with “Alexa” just prior to the release of the EAB site.
Actually, I have some evidence of my own from personal experience.
When I had first heard the reaction to RPD winning Between the Sheets’ “Best Sex Blogger of 2010″ title, my initial reaction was a lengthy Twitter blast where I basically accused the critics of “Alexa” of being jealous of her success and of piling on someone based on mere “hate”.A few minutes later, I received the following DM tweets from “Alexa”:
You might as well save your breath. They don’t care about what you have to say. Mr. Bohannan is the guy who hosts my sites…
and provides me with VPN service. So it’s no wonder his name shows up with my stuff. Unfortunately, this is liable to cost him.
& it’s not the first time it’s happened, so it’s best to just move on so no one else gets hurt. I’m afraid they’ll go after him & any1 else
The interesting thing here is that before then, “she” had been posting on Twitter under the ID “Sexual_Jedi” (and before that, “Fuck_Junkie”), but still kept the “@Alexa_diCarlo” handle throughout. Usually, you would change the handle as you change your ID..why not otherwise??
Plus, the timing is suspectable, since the EAB website had already gone live last Friday evening, and I’m guessing that the Deleware Emergency Management Agency being a Federal agency, they were probably closed on Saturdays, so I’m guessing that either PatBo was terminated BEFORE everything went down, and then told “Alexa” about it, or PatBo is simply winging it. Again.
Finally…why this is important to me as a progressive male sex blogger??
First off, because no one likes being played.
Secondly, because I didn’t fight brutal smackdowns with the likes of Maggie Hays, Luckynkl, Witchy-Woo, Gail Dines, and other assorted radfems who accuse me and likeminded pro-porn/pro-sex folk of pandering to women just to get into their thongs, just to allow the likes of Pat Bohannon to manipulate sex-positivity and invent straw-sluts for his own sexual predatory instincts.
Thirdly, because I beleive that honest and REAL women who take real risks in being active sexual beings and assertive sexual subjects have more than enough burdens to have to deal with shysters who play sick games like this.
But mostly, it is because of this:
I’m a man like any other who thinks about sex as much as most single men; and I’m prone to have an active sexual fantasy life to compensate for the lack of any real action. Unlike Pat Bohanon, my salary and work schedule won’t allow me to venture out and seek instant pussy at the first instance, so vicarious displacement via porn and masturbation will just have to do for now. And sometimes, I’ve been prone to invent my very own fantasy slut goddesses who aren’t afraid to drop their thongs and bras and drop to their knees at the first sign of a healthy bulging crotch or five. (Or for that matter, a set of poking nipples surrounded by massive 38DD boobs, or a round and smooth ass, or even a hint of camel toe.) Hell, this very damn blog is named in honor of a sex fantasy woman I have written stroke erotica to. So, needless to say, I understand quite well what motivates men to invent supersluts, and even hope and pray to find one that serves his greatest desires.
Where the line between being human and being an overaggressive sexual predator falls for me, though, is when someone decides that the fantasy just isn’t enough and that they feel the need to make it reality not by seeking consensual companionship with someone open to fulfilling those desires, but by manipulating and lying to and deceiving people through lies and saw stories. Calling yourself a “sex educator” yet pushing the envelope towards the most dangerous and unsafe behaviors without any notion of protection; misrepresenting yourself as a honorary sex worker and inventing characters for yourself just to score hookups; and just plain lying not only to other people but to yourself about who you are…that is about as low as you can get as a sentinent being.
It behooves any and EVERY man who calls himself “sex-positive” to rise up and condemn these fools and defend the rights of sex workers and all sexually assertive women against predators likek him. Anything else simply enables this behavior, and gives a gift to the sexual fascists.
And…it won’t help you get laid any sooner, either.
Update: An excellent exposition on why this all matter can be found here at The Sexademic..
